Project Overview

GeelongPort is expanding its current operations to establish the Geelong Hydrogen Hub, a production and distribution facility for Green Hydrogen that will accelerate Victoria’s transition to a clean energy future.

The Geelong Hydrogen hub’s goal is to become Australia’s most sustainable bulk port. Having partnered with CAC-H2 as the Hub’s foundation green hydrogen developer, Hydrogen Plus will be the vehicle for executing the project.

Through the production of negative carbon designer fuels, the project is aiming to remove up to one million tonnes of atmospheric CO2 each year and accelerate the decarbonisation journey for Victoria.

Hydrogen Plus already has offtake agreements in place with an ASX-listed company to purchase hydrogen and support from high-ranking Victorian State Government politicians, which will accelerate the project.

Currently, the company is in the final stages of securing a leasing agreement and wood waste supply, which will be used as feedstock for the production of hydrogen.

Pending regulatory approvals, the first stage of the Geelong Hydrogen Hub is expected to be operational in September 2023, creating over 50 jobs during its construction and establishing many more direct and indirect clean energy jobs as Victoria transitions to Green Hydrogen.

The project is set to produce 2,500 kilograms of green hydrogen each day.
